Friday's in Room 3 are our challenge days. This term we have been challenging ourselves to learn about coding and working through set activities on code.org. Coding is what makes it possible for websites, apps and computer software to be developed and created and helps us to understand the technology that is all around us. Computer science and technology are becoming more and more important in our everyday lives. Here's a short video clip about Coding. If you have any questions about coding feel free to come and chat to me.

Maths Learning with Chickens
We have been learning lots from our latest little chicks - even maths! We have been learning about grams and how to read the lines on a set of scales. Last week when our chicks were only a couple of days old we weighed them and recorded their weight on a google sheet. This week we weighed them again and recorded the information.
Rosie | 30 | 50 |
Bubble Fluff | 30 | 50 |
Black Kiss | 30 | 60 |
Banana | 50 | 75 |
Tom | 50 | 55 |
Jerry | 50 | 80 |
Bobby | 50 | 90 |
Candy Cane | 50 | 60 |
We have been looking at the information and noticing who is the heaviest, who is growing the fastest, who is the littlest, etc. As we record the information we are graphing it too.
We are learning about legends / keys and labeling the axis as well as choosing the right sort of graph for our information. Each child is recording the information and making their own graphs. After a few weeks we should have a lot of data to interpret.
