Maths Learning with Chickens

We have been learning lots from our latest little chicks - even maths! We have been learning about grams and how to read the lines on a set of scales. Last week when our chicks were only a couple of days old we weighed them and recorded their weight on a google sheet. This week we weighed them again and recorded the information.

We have been looking at the information and noticing who is the heaviest, who is growing the fastest, who is the littlest, etc.  As we record the information we are graphing it too.

We are learning about legends / keys and labeling the axis as well as choosing the right sort of graph for our information. Each child is recording the information and making their own graphs. After a few weeks we should have a lot of data to interpret.

  1. Wow Room 3 - so much learning. Isn't it great to be learning all these important maths concepts with such real examples. It's amazing how much maths is around us. What programme did you use to create the graphs above?
